A minimal, patterned handmade vase, in which the flowers sit behind a flat geometric plane. These work perfectly with a single stem, a small posy of flowers, or as a stand alone piece.

This collection of vases was developed out of a fascination with the interaction of architecture and the natural world; clean lines against organic shapes. The simple slab-built forms contrast with plants and flowers, with the flowers peeking out from behind the vase.

The front plane incorporates fine layers of hand-coloured clay embedded into the surface, making each piece a one-off. This patterning process has gradually developed after becoming fascinated with Nerikomi technique and hand-colouring clay as soon as I started working with pottery. You can find out more about my process, and see a short video here.

This vase has blue and white hand-coloured clay inlaid into a speckled stoneware clay.

All of my work is carefully hand built in my studio in East Oxford. After firing, the outside is polished by hand to create a smooth satin surface. The inside and back is glazed with a clear glaze, making them great with dried or fresh flowers.

It's important to me as a maker to consider the environmental impact of my work. This is an ongoing process and I'm always looking for ways to reduce the impact of my work. When sending out ceramics, all of my packaging is plastic-free, and all work is fired with 100% renewable energy. You can find out more about the processes I have in place here.
