These works explore our connection to nature, alongside our continuous flow of thought and emotion. 
 
Each piece is created by intricately layering coloured clay, an experimental process informed by years of working with agateware and nerikomi techniques, and coloured clay bodies. 
 
Through detailed patterns and bold or translucent layers, areas are revealed or hidden, sometimes ripped at the edges and sometimes clear cut. In this way, Emily draws parallels between the changes in our inner landscape and the reassuring cycles of the natural world.
 
Rise responds to these cycles, and forms part of an ongoing series of land, water and skyscapes.
 
This wall based work comes ready to hang, with a makers mark on the back.
 
I’m committed to working responsibly as an artist and make conscious decisions in every part of my process. Each piece is made in my garden studio, and fired using energy from renewable sources .You can find out more about the processes I have in place here.
