Images, and a few notes from the studio as I develop new works.

Working again with porcelain, and looking at how I can layer and fold to create translucency when fired.

At the moment the process changes and develops each time I make. It’s important that if I have a thought of applying/cutting/layering/rolling something differently, I always try it, even if I don’t know if it'll work technically. I've learned a lot through creating this way, being open to ideas evolving.

The works are dried slowly, usually over four to six weeks depending on the weather. So I'll often cut some samples to put in the kiln the next time I'm firing something else - I'll keep all of the samples, and they create an archive to inform new works.

All other pieces are reclaimed again (most of the porcelain shown here is reclaimed from making porcelain jewellery) and will be used for future projects.
