Over the past few years, alongside making jewellery and vessels, I’ve been working on collections of ceramic artworks. My background is in Fine Art Painting, and I’ve loved creating and developing pieces that sit as standalone objects, either as sculptures or wall based ceramic works.
I’ve tried to carve out pockets of time for experimenting with these, as I’m being drawn more and more to this side of my practice.
As I create new artwork, I’m aiming to post here a couple of times a month, both as a behind the scenes, and as a way for me to document works and keep a visual diary.
The images above show just a few parts of the process of these works - initially creating patterned slabs from layers of coloured clay, then building up and collaging sections of these, before rolling them out.
I'll be adding images of some of the fired results in my next post.
